Northampton Rugby League Club has entered a competition to win funding for our club from the Norwich Union Community Sports Fund. Our future plans have been registered on the Sports Funds website as an initiative and we are asking that all of you vote for our entry. We have the chance to win between £1000 and £50,000 for the club. Should we receive 200 votes or more we will win £1000 and then we'll go forward for a chance to win the silver award (£12,500). If we receive the most votes within our region, East Midlands, we will be awarded £12,500. Should we get past this stage we have a chance to win the Gold Prize (£50,000)

We would urge you to vote and ask everyone you know to vote for initiative. If you visit the Nortampton RL site then you can find the join our team website to vote on. Please tell all your friends and family to vote for the Northampton Rugby League Club initiative. If you enter NN4 7AA as the postcode it will bring up our initiative.
Another great win at the weekend and promotion now looks like a dead cert.

With 8 games to go (including the game in hand with Newbury on the 2nd Feb) we are 3 points clear. If we win the home games against Newbury and Aylesbury, and Wallingford lose away to Witney on the 9th Feb we will be 7 points clear going into our away match at Wallingford on the 16th. A win here will mean we are 9 points clear with 4 matches to go i.e. we will be promoted.

If Wallingford don't lose to Witney, we can still achieve automatic promotion by the 1st of March at our home game to MK.

The next 4 weeks are going to be so important...

Ladies Day takes place on Saturday 9 Feb at the club, ahead of the two home games that day.

Starting at 1230, in the big room, there'll be drinks and nibbles and all wives, girlfriends, mothers etc of players are very welcome to come along.

The thinking behind it is that it gives the "WAGs" a chance to get to know each other, make new friends and catch up with people, watch the game and empathise with each other about how rugby has taken over their lives!! It's also a good opportunity for those new WAGs to see how friendly our club is and get involved.

So, players, let your better halves know and please encourage them down that day. There will be lots of friendly faces (including mine) there to welcome them and mingle around. I promise I won't cajole them into joining the ladies team (toooooo much).

Cheers
As some of you I tried to rope in are aware - Olney RFC and a few mates took part in the MK Dodgeball Winter Tournament on Sunday.
Congrats to Bezza, Knapper, Kev Smith and Kelsall Junior for great performances, including a superb win, despite initially getting hammered by the league champions and not really understanding the rules.

In January, the new league starts and new teams are welcome to join.

For anyone keen on taking part, its Wedneday nights, in a slot sometime between 7-9.30pm, which will vary from week-to-week. Teams can be mixed sex.

Its a good crack, so if you are keen, let me know and I'll register a team. If we have 10-12 players, we can always field a team of 6, without people having to make the commitment of turning out every time.

You may even be lucky enough to witness Knappers trademark 'stop, drop, roll' defence bemusing the opposition.
You may have heard the stories, seen the pics and smelt the stale beer on our polo shirts - now's your chance to experience a ladies coach trip first hand!

Olney Ladies v Longton
Sunday 25th November
coach leaving the club house about 10?

We're so far undefeated in the league and are playing some rather stylish rugby, if I do say so myself! Aside from the champagne rugger, there will also no doubt be some home brewed sloe gin going around, endless sarnies from Helen Hacker and shenanigans on the way home.

It's all good, and all supporters are welcome - we're a friendly bunch so do come along if you fancy a comedy day trip...

Ta

Now there is a forum!!!!

Come and enjoy......

Please remember that this is an open forum, so:

- Mind the language
- Try and be polite to other users
- If you've got a moan about the club, try and come up with a solution as well
- A bit of banter is fine, but don't overstep the mark
- Try and use proper English, i.e. no text speak
